K. Michelle Dallas Concert reviews
Short concert for the money
At the American Airlines Center in Dallas, K. Michelle and Steve Winwood demonstrated their legendary status in rock. It was refreshing that the show wasn't a typical "Greatest Hits" performance. One highlight was the blues songs, particularly the impressive rendition of Jimi Hendrix' "Voodoo Chile". Hits like Cream's "Glad" were included, but the absence of "Little Wing" was disappointing. The band, led by drummer Abe Laboriel Jr., maintained a low profile and minimal interaction with the audience. Unlike his energetic performances with Paul McCartney, Abe's drumming was more subdued. The show was enjoyable, but given the ticket price of $150, I anticipated a longer set. While not expecting a marathon like Springsteen in Milwaukee, other high-priced acts such as McCartney and the Rolling Stones typically deliver at least 2 1/2 hours of music.
